The Waiting.

26 Jan

My travel time going to work is about an hour and a half.  This involves riding a bus for a 30 minute travel and walking for about 1km (each way or to and from work) because there are no public utility vehicles passing by our office area.  I do this 5 days a week, to and from work.

I used to complain a lot about my travel time.  I complain about the undisciplined bus drivers who wait for traffic lights to turn red so they can have more passengers.  I rant about the horrendous traffic on EDSA. And I abhorred the long walks. And then I realized I was impatient because while traveling, I’ve got nothing better to do.

Have you been in this situation?  I think most of us have been in a similar spot.  We have, in our day to day journey, experienced waiting and getting impatient. Long lines in ATMs or banks.  Horrible traffic.  Waiting for someone or a package to arrive.  We get impatient.  And why is that?  Why do we feel frustrated? Continue reading

In His Image

14 Jan

I was doing my daily Bible reading today and was struck by this verse:

“So God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created them, male and female He created them.” –Genesis 1:27

I’ve read this verse so many times before but it is only now that it struck me like this.  You see, just the other day, I saw some kids on the street jokingly calling another kid: “pangit (ugly)” and it got me thinking, since God created us in His image, isn’t calling others “ugly” an insult to our maker?  And doesn’t it mean that when we call others “ugly”, we are calling ourselves “ugly” too because we have the same maker? Weekly Roundup – The First Week of 2011

9 Jan

Hello? Anyone here?  It’s me, the wifey, checking in.

The first week of the year has gotten me busy with several projects both at home and at work.  While it’s not the crazy-no sleep type of projects, it has me quite on my toes.

Let’s start the week’s roundup, shall we?

Blogging Al Fresco

  1. Temporarily moved to do my work outside (terrace).  For some reason this laptop could not get any WiFi signal inside our room.  So I am blogging Al Fresco!
  2. First day back at work after the long Christmas holiday.  Word of the day is lethargic. Everyone still seem hesitant to come back to work (but we have to start sometime, right?).
  3. First day working at a different location.  I grabbed the opportunity of transferring when asked.  I felt I needed a change of environment without moving companies.
  4. The birth of several ideas that came to mind while I was home.  Ideas to earn a bit more on the side.  I figured I might as well start now if I hoped to fulfill that plan of being a work at home wifey.
  5. Our church’s annual prayer and fasting started this week.
  6. Weekly run with the husbo.

The rest of the time that I was not sleeping was spent on the internet diligently doing some research for the ideas mentioned above.  I am hoping I could give life to them very soon! I’ll keep you posted.

How about you? How was the first week of 2011 for you?

Merry Christmas!

24 Dec

From our hearts to yours, a blessed Christmas and New year!  The husbo and Wifey will be back to regular programming soon.

Room Renovation on It’s Way!

21 Dec

Whew!  We just arrived home from the Dapitan Arcade where we bought some home stuff…well, more like room actually.  Today we bought several oil lamp burners for the room, plus a box for my accessories.  You see, our room right now is very bare and needs a bit of cheering so the husbo and I are planning on some room renovations for the entire 2011.  That’s our goal.

We need more stuff for the room and my mind is just bursting with ideas.  I want a rounded table to showcase our pictures topped with a flocking overlay 60×60 which would really look elegant!

I’m also thinking of changing our bed frame to match the overall theme of the room.  On top of the headboard I want a poppy painting with pastel that would add a splash of color. And on a corner of the room, some over armchair tables would be nice.

Oooh! I am giddy with excitement! I can’t wait to see the finished product. Don’t worry though, you know I’ll post some pictures here. 😉  I will rest for a bit. My feet are killing me from all that shopping we did!

I’ll be back soon to post about our anniversary celebration.

The Connection – Time’s 2010 Person of the Year

17 Dec

“I can’t believe my aunt has a Facebook account!” I thought, while browsing through her pictures and wall posts.  I am stunned because she was never the techie type and I would never, in a million years, imagine seeing her online.  I am amazed at how this social networking site has connected me and my family, who are scattered all over the world, in just a click of a mouse button. One Survivor. One Victor. A Fight to Death.

15 Dec

The Hunger Games Trilogy by Suzanne Collins. #1 New York Times Best Seller

“…I know the other’s survival means our own death.” – Katniss Everdeen

This is the reason for my absence.  I gave in and bought the trilogy because I thought, if my friend was right about how good it is, then I better have all three books on hand.  She said she was dying of anticipation before the third book came out.

The story is set in the future and starts in one of the poor Districts of the post-apocalyptic world of Panem, where a powerful government called Capitol holds power.   Panem rose out of the ashes of what was once known as North America. Continue reading
